Callum Stewart

Engineering Technician

As an engineering technician at Ballard Motive Solutions, I’m involved in the building and assembling of all products that we manufacture. I’m currently working on building Scotland's first hydrogen-powered train.

I completed my four-year dual skilled mechanical/electrical engineering apprenticeship with Michelin Tyre Plc in Dundee in 2015, before starting work at their factory in the city. After jumping between jobs I wasn’t satisfied with for a few years, I arrived at Arcola Energy (now BMS) last year – and I’m so glad I did!

In my seven months at the company, I have been able to develop my professional skillset by working on new technologies, such as hydrogen fuel cells.

BMS have also been helpful in creating a career development path that will hopefully lead to me becoming a senior engineering technician, which I hope to progress to when we move to our new premises at the MSIP site in Dundee.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my wife – who I married in September 2021 – and my dog, Jock, who is a West Highland Terrier. I'm also an avid football player and play three or four times a week with different groups of friends and ex-colleagues.
